• ​Provide a meeting and networking forum for sport in the town and local area

• Monitor the need and demand for sport and active recreation in the local community

• Support and advise clubs to ensure they have the best possible standard of facilities

​

• Encourage local residents to take part in sport and recreation

​

• Enable or assist with special events to promote sport and physical activity

​

• Coordinate and host an annual Sports Awards scheme to recognise local achievement

​

• Showcase and promote examples of good practice to benefit other clubs/activities

​

• Promote and encourage ‘inclusive’ opportunities for sporting opportunity in the town

​

• Support, wherever practicable, talented young sports people in the town via our “Grant Aid” programme

​

• Sponsor young sportspeople with national/international potential via our “Go for Gold Champions Fund” programme

​

• Use the best means available for communicating with and reaching our local community

​

• Offer advice to the local authorities and other organisations on the improvement, refurbishment and provision of new facilities

​

• Provide local authorities with opinions reflecting the views of local sports interests – the development of sport and recreation in the local area

​

• Establish relationships with other sports councils and regional and national sporting and recreational bodies.

​

• Promote sport in all local schools both junior and senior

​

• Encourage Clubs to gain Clubmark accreditation where possible
